WEEK 00 / IMAGES

Wabi-sabi, Jaunade Elbrihi 2010
This artwork was inspired by the Japanese aesthetic, Wabi-sabi. This aesthetic seeks the beauty in imperfection, with high regard for asymmetry, asperity and the integrity of nature. I captured the image used in this artwork at Paddington Reservoir; the irregular marriage of old and new architecture, and the natural surroundings on the site made it a fitting component.

Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright 1935
Fallingwater was designed by architect Frank Llyod Wright in 1935. His dramatic use of caterlivered floor and roofs over the waterfall, create continuity of interior and exterior, making the building one with its surroundings. This type of organic architecture inspires me most.

Wentworth Falls, NSW 2011
This photo was taken at Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains area. I love how the reflection of the sun in the mist distorts the colours on the rock face and the eruption of water and flora from the rock surface brings life to the photograph.
